Advanced users only

Use these settings only if you understand their effects and know how to reverse them. A wrong setting can cause compatibility or recovery problems.

Open 6. Advanced Configuration in the Atlas folder on your Desktop. If the Atlas folder is missing, follow our guide to restore the Atlas folder.

Boot configuration

Boot Configuration contains scripts for Windows boot appearance and behavior.

  • Appearance - Toggle boot logo, spinning animation, and the newer boot menu.
  • Behavior - Toggle advanced boot options, automatic repair, highest graphics mode, and kernel parameter editing at startup.
  • View Current Values - Check the current boot configuration before changing it.

Incorrect boot settings can make Windows harder to recover. Change one option at a time and record its original value.

Driver configuration

Affinities assign a driver or process to specific CPU cores. Windows places most driver activity on Core 0 by default. Moving selected drivers can reduce Core 0 interrupts and improve latency, but poor assignments can reduce performance.

The Driver Configuration folder contains links to tools and documentation for MSI mode, interrupt policy, and driver affinity configuration. These are manual tools for advanced troubleshooting and tuning.

Microsoft Store

Microsoft Store contains scripts to disable or restore Microsoft Store access.

  • Run Disable Microsoft Store.cmd only if you intentionally do not use Store apps.
  • Run Enable Microsoft Store (default).cmd to restore the default Atlas state.

Process Explorer

Process Explorer is part of Microsoft Sysinternals. It is an advanced Task Manager that shows what resources each program uses. See Microsoft’s Process Explorer documentation.

This folder has scripts to install or uninstall Process Explorer.

Services

The Services folder contains toggles for Windows and vendor services that Atlas exposes as optional configuration:

  • Bluetooth - Enabled by default. Disable only if you do not use Bluetooth devices.
  • Lanman Workstation (SMB) - Enabled by default. Required by file sharing and some software such as AMD Ryzen Master.
  • NVIDIA Display Container - Enabled by default. Some stripped NVIDIA driver setups may disable it.
  • Network Discovery - Enabled by default. Controls local network discovery services.
  • Printing - Enabled by default. Disable only if you never print or use print-to-PDF workflows.
  • Superfetch - Toggle SysMain/Superfetch behavior.

Toggle Windows Updates

The Toggle Windows Updates folder contains the Windows Update script and its README. Read the README, then run the script to change update behavior after installation.

Not in this folder

DSCP, Static IP, Gameutil, and Wi-Fi scripts are not present in the current Atlas Advanced Configuration folder.
